Spierings Mobile Cranes is a finalist for the Koning Willem I Prijs 2026. This prestigious business award, often referred to as the “Oscars of Dutch industry,” recognizes companies that excel in entrepreneurship, innovation, and societal impact. The award will be presented on May 20 by Her Majesty Queen Máxima.
The finalist position follows an intensive process of pitches and evaluation by an expert jury. During this process, Spierings stood out through its boldness, decisiveness, and forward-looking sustainable vision.
Boldness and decisiveness as a foundation
Boldness is deeply embedded in the DNA of Spierings. The company was the first to take the step toward fully electric mobile tower cranes and remains, to this day, the only manufacturer worldwide applying this technology at this scale.
This boldness is combined with decisiveness. With the introduction of eLift technology, Spierings has already made emission-free lifting practically applicable today. Cranes can operate fully electrically via a standard power connection or on battery power, achieving fuel savings of up to 85 percent and a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions.
More than 350 eLift cranes are now in operation, collectively contributing to millions of kilograms of CO₂ reduction each year.
Innovation and sustainability go hand in hand
At Spierings, sustainability is not a standalone theme but an integral part of the business operations. In addition to emission-free mobile tower cranes, the company invests in renewable energy, circularity, and smart production processes. With a strong R&D team and a focus on digitalization, Spierings continuously works on innovation and the improvement of its products and services.
The strength of the team
According to owner-director Koos Spierings, the foundation of success lies with the people within the company:
“This nomination confirms what we stand for: striving to improve together every day. It’s about the people behind Spierings—a team where everyone can contribute and grow, with a shared drive to keep innovating and realize our ‘Mission to Zero-emission’. Lift to the Max.”
Proud of the finalist position
In addition to Spierings, Royal Swinkels and Schuberg Philis have also been nominated. Spierings looks forward with pride to the award ceremony on May 20 and sees the finalist position as confirmation of its direction: continuing to innovate, becoming more sustainable, and building the future of lifting.
