About us

The Spierings story…

We all know that the tower crane is the crane of all cranes. As a child, you already knew that. If you drew a crane, it would be a tower crane. Spierings knew that too. That is exactly why, in the 1980s, we saw it as a challenge to do something with that tower crane that nobody had ever done before: put it on wheels. Because by doing so, you combine the best of both worlds: the reach of a tower crane and the mobility of a mobile crane.

That idea led to a completely new type of crane: the mobile tower crane. The Spierings crane was born. And then a new world opened up. By adding mobility to the most efficient crane concept, much more suddenly became possible.

A Spierings crane evolved into the workhorse among cranes. Around eighty percent of all lifting jobs worldwide can be carried out with a mobile tower crane. With a focus on ease of use, sustainability and safety, one crane enables you to get the most out of every lifting job, while we set the standard in mobile lifting.

Who is Spierings

Spierings Mobile Cranes is a Dutch family-owned company and the global pioneer, founder and manufacturer of mobile tower cranes. Since 1987, we have been developing and manufacturing mobile tower cranes known for their efficiency, safety and sustainability.

From our factory in Oss, more than 400 employees work every day on the entire process: from engineering and production to service and innovation. Today, more than 1,500 Spierings cranes are in operation around the world. With nearly 40 years of experience, we continue to build the future of lifting.

Lift to the Max.

Family business with a long-term vision

Spierings is and always will be a family business. This is reflected in the way we work, the way we make decisions and the way we treat our people.

The organisation is built on the philosophy of founders Leo and Tiny Spierings: entrepreneurship, craftsmanship and commitment. Today, this philosophy is continued by the next generation. Since 2017, nephew Koos Spierings has led the company as Managing Director and Owner. Under his leadership, Spierings continues to build its international growth.

This long-term vision ensures that we focus not only on growth, but above all on continuity. We invest in people, technology and sustainable solutions that create value in the long term. It makes us agile where necessary and steadfast where it matters.

Mission and vision

We push boundaries and get the maximum out of the crane and out of ourselves. That is what Spierings stands for. Since our founding and well into the future.

Since the invention of the mobile tower crane, everything we do has revolved around making lifting smarter, more efficient and better. That same drive still forms the foundation of how we work today. We continuously look for improvements in technology, processes and collaboration. Not by following developments, but by shaping them ourselves. This is how we continue to set the standard for the mobile tower crane of tomorrow.

The construction industry is changing. Emissions must be reduced, efficiency must increase and projects are becoming more complex. Spierings plays an active role in this transition, with a clear ambition: to set the global standard for hassle-free and emission-free lifting, anywhere, anytime, anyhow.

To achieve this, we invest in innovation, sustainable technology and an organisation that grows with the future. Not as a goal in itself, but to create lasting impact and further develop the standard in lifting.

Mission to Zero-Emission

From steel to crane – entirely in Oss

At Spierings, everything happens in one location. In our factory in Oss, every crane goes through the entire production process: from raw steel to a fully operational mobile tower crane.

This means we do not work with separate links in the chain, but with one integrated process in which engineering, production, assembly, final inspection and aftersales fit together seamlessly.

Our craftsmen build every crane step by step, combining smart automation with craftsmanship, experience and attention to detail. Robots assist with repetitive processes and ensure consistent precision. At the same time, craftsmanship remains the foundation. It is the combination of experience, craftsmanship and a strong engineering team that ensures every crane meets the highest standards. By keeping the complete production process in Oss, we can respond quickly, apply knowledge directly and continuously improve. In this way, we are not only building cranes, but also a production process that becomes smarter, more efficient and future-proof every day.

Leading the way in sustainable lifting

Sustainability is at the core of Spierings. As the first and only manufacturer in the world, we exclusively develop and produce electric mobile tower cranes. The foundation of this is the emission-free eLift system. Since the delivery of the first eLift crane in 2020, we have made emission-free lifting a practical reality.

With eLift, our cranes can operate fully electrically via a standard power connection. If this is not available, the crane automatically switches to a hybrid mode supported by batteries. This reduces fuel consumption to a minimum. The result: up to 85% fuel savings and a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions, without compromising performance, speed or safety.

But sustainability does not stop at the crane itself. At our factory in Oss, we continuously work on creating a production environment that is more efficient, cleaner and future-proof. With thousands of solar panels, we generate a large part of our own energy and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. In addition, we organise our processes in a way that limits material use, reuses components wherever possible and structurally reduces waste.

This is how we combine technological innovation with sustainable manufacturing and contribute to cleaner construction sites and a future-proof industry.

Innovation is at the heart of Spierings

Since the invention of the mobile tower crane, continuous improvement of technology and performance has been the common thread. The philosophy of founder Leo Spierings still forms the foundation. His knowledge and vision are deeply embedded within the organisation and are applied in practice every day. Leo remains actively involved today as an advisor. With a team of approximately 40 engineers, we continuously work on the development of new cranes and the further development of existing models. Through the combination of experience, long-term employment and strong documentation, knowledge is preserved and continuously expanded.

Innovation does not only take place at the drawing board. In every development process, the crane operator remains central. That is why we directly incorporate feedback from the factory, service department and customers into our improvements. This ensures that our solutions always meet market demands: greater lifting capacity, emission-free operation, less maintenance and higher availability. A recent example is the introduction of a redesigned crane cab in 2026, where ease of use, ergonomics and visibility have been further improved based on practical experience.

Digitalisation is playing an increasingly important role. With real-time insight into performance, energy consumption and usage, we can make cranes smarter and predict maintenance more effectively. Combined with remote service and smart connectivity, this results in maximum reliability and minimal downtime. This is how Spierings continues not only to innovate, but also to shape the future of lifting.

Service and support worldwide

At Spierings, service starts before the first lift. When delivering a new crane, we ensure that operators are fully prepared to get started. Our specialists therefore provide training for the operators who will work with the Spierings crane, enabling them to operate the machine safely, efficiently and with confidence.Support remains an essential part of our service even after commissioning. With more than 1,500 cranes operating worldwide, reliable service is essential. That is why our Aftersales department is organised to support customers at any time, quickly, efficiently and remotely whenever possible.

Through our Support Desk, we provide direct remote assistance. Using real-time data and smart systems, we can often detect faults before they have an impact and in many cases resolve them immediately.

For service requests and coordination, our Service Desk is ready to help, while our Parts Desk ensures the rapid availability of genuine Spierings parts. This allows us to safeguard quality and reliability throughout every stage of the process. In addition, our experienced Service Engineers operate from our workshop in Oss and throughout Europe to support customers locally whenever required. Spierings Smart Connect plays an important role in this. This innovative paid platform provides remote insight into crane performance, usage and status. By making smart use of this data, management, maintenance and availability can be further optimised. This ensures that every Spierings crane continues to perform as intended, with minimal downtime and maximum availability.

Spierings Academy: investing in knowledge and safety

Getting the maximum out of a mobile tower crane starts with the people who operate it. That is why Spierings developed the Spierings Academy: a training centre where crane operators and technical service employees are trained in the safe, efficient and optimal use of Spierings cranes.

The Academy offers high-quality training courses for both beginners and experienced professionals. The focus is not only on crane operation, but also on topics such as safety, maintenance, new technologies and operational efficiency. In addition, Spierings provides training for crane operators when a new crane is delivered. This enables them to start working safely, confidently and productively from day one. With the Spierings Academy, we invest not only in machines, but above all in the people who work with them every day.

Impact on the environment and society

With our electric mobile tower cranes, we contribute every day to reducing emissions and making the construction industry more sustainable. By making emission-free lifting a practical reality, we help construction sites become cleaner, quieter and more efficient. But it does not stop there.

As one of the largest employers in Oss, we are closely connected to the region. Nearly 40% of our employees live in the municipality, meaning our growth directly contributes to the local economy and employment. We provide future-proof jobs and actively invest in the development of technical talent. Through initiatives such as JobsCool and the Spierings Academy, we train new professionals and strengthen the technical ecosystem in the region.

Our impact extends beyond our own organisation. Together with suppliers, partners and service providers, we form a broad chain of employment and business activity, contributing to a strong and future-oriented region. Through sponsorships and partnerships, we also support local initiatives in sports, culture and social development. Not as a commercial strategy, but as part of who we are as a family business.

Diversity and inclusion

At Spierings, we work together with room for everyone’s talent. That is why we consciously build an organisation where everyone can participate, grow and contribute. Diversity and inclusion are not separate initiatives for us, but a natural part of the way we work.We provide opportunities for talent in all its forms, regardless of background, education level or experience. This is reflected on the work floor, where people with different backgrounds work together towards one goal: together building the best mobile tower cranes.

We put this into practice by investing in guidance and development. For example, we provide jobs for assistant mechanics through our partnership with social employment organisation IBN, train young people through JobsCool and support refugees with residence permits in entering technical professions.

This approach requires time and attention, but it also delivers a great deal. Teams become stronger, collaboration improves and people are given the opportunity to develop sustainably.

Lift to the Max.

At Spierings, it is all about getting the maximum out of technology and out of people. Every day, we work on better solutions, smarter processes and more sustainable performance. With courage, craftsmanship and the drive to continuously improve.
